The rooms here are stylish with nice marble floors, filled with different shades of blue and the food is outstanding. the lobby bar offers a variety of non-alcoholic beverages.

it was surely a wonderful stay for another memorable vacation. nice sized and clean hotel, location was particularly good so close to the clubs and the bus, and restaurant. truly enjoyed the way our recently renovated and good sized double room with a fantastic view was arranged. delicious and extraordinary breakfast for an espresso or cappucino was available.
Facilities were very well kept, nevertheless Wi-Fi signal was not very good.

Very good service and an outdoor restaurant onsite :D
1st class and simply stunning place with well-trained staff and magnificent location on the bay. "Fresh made breakfast right on the water for the start of the day.

We loved spotlessly clean and updated rooms and outstanding food.
Location: the hotel was just off the beach and ocean and the ocean except by the undertow and being yelled at by the lifeguard and Coco Bongo or Senior Frogs on those nights. Popped in Bungee Bar for shots before sleep, it was relatively close to the venue.

I booked this place for our trip and had an amazing stay with great value, a newly remodelled room, and the best staff, plus we got a room with a tub.

The hotel is wonderful. The services is great. The spa is fantastic. Very nice and classy.
The food was bad. There was a lot of choice but literaly nothing you could enjoy. Everything tasted the same. The restourants around were much better. The food was not your 5 star expectations.

This hotel has been the highlight of my whole trip including all of the usa. The people and service is amazing and will do anything to make your trip more enjoyable. They even have an activities person who organises stuff to do during the day and off to the clubs in the night. Best place ever !!

Restaurants were good. Staff is extra nice
It's not as luxury as it appears in pictures. The bed is not very comfortable compared to other well known hotels. The towels are not soft. I had the royal junior suite ocean front which was supposed to have free internet in the room (starting from this level and up) But there was no network in the room

The first thing I noticed was the impeccable attention to detail in everything. The floor plan, the decor, the architecture, the food, the service was all 1st class. I loved the room and the pool area. They was beautiful, the room furnishings were top quality and I felt like I was in a luxurious apartment, not a hotel room. The pool was not a bland oval or rectangle, but a unique shape that spread the entire length of the hotel.

Food was great; staff was great; location and facilities superb; clean. I would go there again in a heartbeat.
Hard to get reservatons for some restaurants yet when we actually did go, most of the tables were empty.

The hotel in itself is amazing in design, but the rooms are not sound proof at all. We kept waking up to noise from next door, and upstairs in the room above. On 3 occasions our phone rang at 9am or housekeeping would try and service the room before 10am...not good for people who enjoy sleep ins. They need to start servicing rooms later. The pool area was great, as was the beach access...so beautiful and probably the best part of the experience there. Some of the staff were the best we had dealt with - IVAN (hands down the best hotel staff member we have ever experienced in over 15+ years of travelling). The staff do make this hotel what it is, if only other features were as good as the staff this could be one of the best hotels in the world. Until they fix the gaps in their offerings though, they have a long way to go.
I feel bad for writing this as we did generally enjoy our stay, but for $4,100 for 6 nights, we were expecting everything to be above and beyond our expectations. It is fair to say these expectations were not met in certain areas. The food was 2-3 star standard in most of the restaurants. Room service in particular failed miserably every time. Our first night was met with cold room service, followed by what was meant to be a romantic honeymoon breakfast on our balcony the next morning. The staff only brought my wife's meal, not mine (they forgot mine). By the time they brought mine, her food was cold, as was mine. Omelette was cold and rubbery, and the toast was moist and cold. We literally wrote off the PELICANO's restaurant and refused to eat their again after they brought my wife a chicken breast dish that was ice cold (we found at later that night another traveller had caught food poisoning and had ended up in hospital)...this is not the type of food service we get in Australia at a 3 star hotel let alone a 5-star - if the Royal has one Achilles heel - it is the food. We must commend their ASIANA restaurant though as it was the only place that did exceed our expectations. We stayed at 6 hotels in 6 different cities in the USA and Mexico on our 4.5 week honeymoon. The Royal was $2,000 more expensive than most of them for the same period. The PUEBLO BONITO PACIFICA in Cabo was almost half the price, but a much more exclusive hotel and blew THE ROYAL away in so many areas. Whilst the ROYAL did so well in some areas, in hindsight we wished we had stayed less time at THE ROYAL and stayed longer at the PACIFICA or Isla Mujeres.
